See You After the Pole

September 23, 2009

This Wednesday is going to be historic when millions of students stand up for what they believe and pray at their school’s flagpole. groundzero is sending staff to many of the area schools to take photos and video of this historic event so that Wednesday night we can show a video of YOU praying at the pole. This wednesday night groundzero will be seeing you ‘after’ the pole. The video is just the beginning. We’ll be hearing from students just like you, we have a surprise performance by one of our students, pizza will be on the house, and we hope you dont’ get stuck forever on the velcro wall! Its all because we are celebrating the fact that you prayed at the pole. Be there at 7am, then be here at 7pm (or earlier we’ll be open by 6). See you then. . . ;)

One week, 7 days, 168 hours, 10,080 minutes, 604,800 seconds

See You At The Pole is one week away. have you found your school’s flag pole? have you decided what you’re praying about (school, friends, teachers, administrators, your country, your family, your crazy ex girlfriend ;) )

here’s a video to get you thinking about some things you can do at the pole next week.. AND..

AFTER the pole at groundzero we’ll be showing video of area school’s and students praying at the pole. We’ll also be eating some pizza, and rockin a velcro wall.. seriously. And of course someone will win the BIG prize, we’ll tell you what that prize is.. TONIGHT ;)

Opposites :: Acceptance :: Approval

Here is a video by Brandon Heath we showed at groundzero last night for Opposites.  For the next three weeks at groundzero we’re being challenged to look at things God’s way instead of our own way.  Many times those two ways are opposed to one another or, “Opposite”.  Check out the video and make it a prayer.

Post a prayer or leave a comment about what things God will be helping you look at differently.

fun with opposites. . .

fun with opposites. . .

We want to brainstorm with groundzero.  I know when we were younger, we normally celebrated something called opposite day.  For me it was normally when I said something wrong and I wanted to convince my parents  or teachers I said it because it was opposite day.

We want you to think of some opposites like, love / hate, happy / sad, etc.  Leave a comment, those with the most creative and funniest opposites will be rewarded ;)

Plan B

Plan B

Once when I was younger I took karate lessons.  I’ll never forget the day that we were doing some excercises and my instructor brought out this enormous 10 foot long wooden sword.  He then told us that he was going to swing it at each of us, our job was to do a jump kick over the sword.  I was nervous.  This was the first time the instructor really made us do something that we thought might hurt if we didn’t do it right.  But I could never plan for what ended up happening when it was my turn.  Sure enough, I jumped right over the sword.  I was so impressed with myself.   Upon landing though… my belt came loose and down came my pants in front of the entire class.  yeah, that’s right… pants down, in front of entire class.  Don’t we all have nightmares about this very same thing?  I got to live it.

The point is we all experience things that we never planned on, those events are called accidents.  I never planned on, nor did I want everyone to see me in my underwear that day.  That’s funny, but it’s not funny when we have to deal with problems we didn’t plan on having, or consequences we didn’t see ahead.  It’s even worse when the accident involves someone or some people getting hurt.

Have you ever said those words?  Has something ever happened that you did not want to happen?  Are things happening right now that you never planned on happening?  How about this, are any of those things your fault?  Tomorrow at groundzero we’ll talk about how to get through times like that, how not to have so many of those moments, and how God wants to use those moments we feel lowest to make us better.

Leave a comment below about your most embarassing moment or accident.  From those entries we will draw a name to win $25!
